Expression Blend 2 December Preview now available

December 7, 2007

The latest CTP of the Expression Blend 2 is now available for download.

This version brings Visual Studio 2008 and .NET 3.5 RTM -compatibility and makes development of Silverlight 1.1 2.0 applications again possible.

Be sure to download the Alpha Tools for the Visual Studio 2008 (RTM), too.

Here is the readme with known issues.

Nibblestutorials.net – Tutorial site made for (and with!) the Silverlight

October 17, 2007

The Nibblestutorials.net -site is made with the Silverlight 1.0 and is very much like similar sites that are done completely with Flash.

Opinions may vary whether RIA-only sites are a good thing when compared to normal HTML-based sites.

Anyway, the site doesn’t just try to be pretty, but it actually has useful content for those who are interested in the Blend (2.0), Silverlight and WPF.

Silverlight 1.1 Alpha tools for VS 2008 Beta 2

August 15, 2007

imageYou can download the Visual Studio 2008 beta 2 tools for the Silverlight 1.1 Alpha (the one with .CLR) from Microsoft Download Center. [via Assemblix.net -newsletter]

There is also free August Preview of Microsoft Expression Blend 2 available.

My take on Silverlight is that it is a really interesting technology. I have never been a big fan of Flash that Silverlight mostly resembles, but lately there have been some web pages that have used Flash for useful purposes.

Also, some Silverlight demos have been very impressive, especially those related to videos that start playing instantly.

As I’m not so much designer-guy, my goal is to learn only the possibilities and limitations of the Silverlight and leave the art-related stuff to experts of that area. I like that with Silverlight you can combine the knowledge and advantages of WPF and .NET-languages.
